After about 20 marathon finishes Mark needed some cross training, to overcome a few wear and tear injuries. He was encouraged to try a few triathlons in 2017. So last year 2017 he and Brian Baraniak (his partner in crime) did multiple sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and also completed in three 70.3 distance events. At the end of 2017 Mark felt strong, was not ready for his season to be over…confident in his running ability with his running background Mark entered the Panama City Iron Man on 10 days notice and well you guessed it Brian joined him signing up for the event just 9 days before the event. Mark had an awesome race and proved to himself that with a good base training program “anything is possible”. When asked, what races do you plan to do next? Marks reply: “All of them”. Mark ended up his first season of racing ranked as an Ironman Silver All World Athlete (top 5 % in the world for his age group). Now Mark wants to share his training knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with other aspiring athletes and help them hit their goals.
